This Winter Solstice was especially meaningful for me this year. It's a time to honor the darkness, which I know many of us have been feeling in ernest these days. Now, the return of light - the turning tide that will begin the waxing phase of the year - 2017.
May this light shine brighter into the realms of understanding. May it reflect and reveal more hopeful transitions in our morals, values, and priorities. May it light up the truth of injustice, inequity, suffering, greed, white supremacy, environmental devastation, and oppression. Observe.
May our acceptance of this truth shine further into the deepest, darkest corners -- the corners that hide from us our very own direct participation, justification, and perpetuation of these wrongs. May an acceptance and active response release us from the pain and suffering of such conflict. And may that experience of revelation compel us. May it compel us and remind us of our responsibility - a responsibility to ourselves and to others, to the youth, to the children, and to all the generations to come. Not in a theoretical or symbolic way, but in an every day choices and actions kinda way.
May we remember to look to the earth and it's voice for guidance. May we recall how to listen to this voice and heal. May our hearts ready themselves for battle, and may they swiftly fight to take back what is rightfully theirs -- compassion, connection, and courage.
As the days continue to get longer and longer, notice. And know that you too can be a reflection of this journey -- a journey back to the light. Peace.
